REVIEW: Vegan Quorn Burgers!

So Quorn launched a vegan line at the beginning of this year! I know, amazing! Currently they only have two things, but I’m hoping they will expand over time because Quorn is such a great protein sauce, super tasty and crucially, it can be bought from normal supermarkets, so it makes veganism that bit easier. Here’s what I thought of their hot and spicy burgers…

TASTINESS 7/10

These burgers are exactly the same texture as normal quorn burgers – i.e. they taste just like chicken and have a really crunchy breaded crumb. So that’s all great, however this isn’t a perfect score because disappointingly for me they are actually pretty spicy. That’s great if you like spice and don’t get me wrong it’s not unbearable, but I would have much preferred them to just be nicely seasoned but not quite so hot. Overall though a solid burger – and one that you could easily ask your friend to cook for you at a bbq.

VALUE FOR MONEY 8/10

Priced at £2.50 per box of 4, they’re 50 pence more than your standard Quorn packet of burgers. Overall as vegan things go, this isn’t too bad – so I think they are good value, but hopefully if they become more popular, the price may go down.

LOOK OUT FOR VEGAN QUORN CHICKEN PIECES

So I got the burgers from Sainsbury’s but they also sell vegan Quorn chicken pieces, which I think taste exactly the same as the normal Quorn chicken pieces, they’re just 50 pence more expensive again. But I would probably give these a 9/10 for flavour, so definitely check them out.

Lots of love,

Sunny Kitty

I agree with you. I’m not sure why Quorn felt the need to make the burgers spicy. Why not just veganise the standard burgers like they did with the chicken-a-like pieces?

Preach – ah well, hopefully they will expand their range to more tasty things and take on any feedback 🙂
