REVIEW: Lush Haul

Okay so Lush is fast becoming my go-to shop for all vegan toiletries. Of course they are fabulous because the vast majority of their products are clearly labelled vegan and they all smell delicious and are made from natural products. And all the staff are lovely and they really know about all the ingredients, they’re clearly chosen very carefully.

Every time I go in there I find something else about the business that I love, for example last time I was in there a staff member told me that at all their board meetings, they only serve vegan food! And their buyers aren’t just looking for the cheapest product like in most businesses, but the most ethical. I just love the way they represent a really transformative way of doing business that isn’t based purely on profit-maximisation but sustainability and animal welfare as well. So here’s a review of what I’m using at the moment.

SHAMPOO BAR

IMG_0065Their shampoo bars are just genius – you simply rub them onto your wet hair and they create a lather. Mine last for three months (I wash my hair about three times a week), which is just amazing, they are such a good investment! I’m only going to buy 4-5 a year and I used to get through dozens of bottles of shampoo! They also make travelling a dream as they are so small and they are not a liquid, so can go in hand luggage. Plus you can buy these handy storage tins to keep them in. My current bar is full of lemon and it just smells absolutely gorgeous and reminds of the Sicilian sunshine, but there are so many varieties that you can choose the smell or ingredient you like best.

CONDITIONER

IMG_0063As someone whose hair is more prone to being oily, I love this conditioner as it is so light and you don’t feel like you’re caking on more grease. It is full of amazing natural ingredients like lemon juice and seaweed and lasts me about 4 months – so again massive bargain!

HAIRSPRAY

IMG_0067Whilst we’re on hair products, I bought this hairspray which is full of natural sea salt and seaweed. I sometimes use it before I dry my hair, but generally I use it on dry hair, often on my second day after washing it. You basically run it through your hair and scrunch it up and it creates lovely beachy waves without any heat damaging your hair. So I love it for a really natural look for my hair, especially in summer!

SHOWER GEL

IMG_0064Lush have an amazing variety of shower gels which will suit anyone’s taste in smells. They come in different sizes – at the moment I’ve got small ones from Christmas presents and I’m really enjoying the mix. The small ones last for about a month, but the big ones can last for 2-3 months. Also you can get a free sample to take home and try before you decide, which is great. The Snow Fairy and Beautiful ones both have sparkles in which I love, and The Olive Branch makes me feel like I’m on a Greek Island.

PERFUME

IMG_0069This was a great find for me! Their perfumes come in liquid form or as balms in a tin which is what I have. I love the ones in the tin because they last for literally 6 months, no joke! And they are super small and portable. The scent isn’t as strong in the tins as from the bottle, the lady in Lush described the tin options as being more for yourself than other people, which I really love because I hate it when someone else asphyxiates you with their perfume. Instead this just combines nicely with your own natural scent.

SOAP/BATH BARS

IMG_0068This is a soap that was given to me free in the shop, so I am excited to open it and smell the kiwi scents. They also do amazing bath bars in loads of amazing smells and colours. You just break off a bit each time you use them, so they last.

So there you have it. Lush also always bring out seasonal products for bonfire night, Christmas, Easter which make it a lot of fun shopping there, as there’s always something new to see (and smell). Also, because their products last so long, your money goes so much further. I would recommend them to anyone who loves natural, amazing smelling products and definitely to all vegans out there!

Lots of love,

Sunny Kitty

I am a convinced fan too. I have also discovered that with some of the shampoo bars you don’t need a conditioner. I totally recommend the soap Sultana of soap that leaves you soft and smelling super good.
