You’ve only got 30 minutes to find some lunch, there are no supermarkets nearby – as a vegan the world seems bleak. But never fear – coffee and sandwich shops have actually got a surprisingly good amount of vegan stuff out there and they’re mostly very clearly labelled as vegan. You just need to go to the right one! These range from sandwiches and soups to sushi and warming pastries. So here are my top choices for where to grab a quick vegan lunch on the go…
Pret have actually got a really good vegan selection, they have a variety of soups – one of which is nearly always dairy-free, and these change everyday from tuscan bean to minted pea.
Then they have a Souper Greens Sandwich packed with kale, spinach and avocado and with a lovely pepper paste that makes it all taste great.
They also have a yummy Falafel Mezze Salad with falafel, houmous and butternut squash – the almonds really give it a tasty sweetness as well.
2. CAFE NERO
These guys have actually got a decent range to choose from, plus their hot chocolates with soy milk are clearly labelled on their website as vegan.
They have an awesome Houmous and Falafel Wrap.
A Penne Arrabbiata – if you want some comfort food.
And a Tabbouleh and Falafel Salad for a lighter option.
Starbucks basically just do one thing, their Moreish Mezze Salad, but it really is yummy and convenient because Starbucks is everywhere.
Wasabi is a fantastic place to go as a vegan. They have a mixture of sushi and curries that are vegan, so you can go from a really light lunch to a filling curry. The majority of their vegetarian sushi is vegan, but they clearly label whether it has milk or egg in it.
I particularly like their Yasai Roll Set.
Their Pumpkin Croquette Salad.
Or for something warm, their Tofu Yakisoba.
5. CORNISH PASTY COMPANY
And finally for a hearty, hot lunch you can get the Wheatmeal Vegetable Pasty from this place which is 100 percent vegan – woohoo!
So hopefully you’ll never get caught out on your lunch break again!
Lots of love,
