QUOTE OF THE WEEK: KUNKUSH THE MIGRANT CAT – HOMEWARD BOUND

Okay so the quote this week follows a slightly different format and is wholly inspired by the amazing story of Kunkush the Cat:

UNTIL ONE HAS LOVED AN ANIMAL, A PART OF ONE’S SOUL REMAINS UNAWAKENED.

ANATOLE FRANCE

This is a beautiful quote which resonates with me so much – the unconditional love and the hope and calm you feel from an animal is like no other relationship – and is such a special part of life!

This week the story of Kunkush the cat has gone absolutely viral. I full-on cried uncontrollable tears (of joy and many emotions I couldn’t even name) at 1.10 – watch the video for yourself:

This just sums up the quote for me. The story of the family’s struggles and the reunion between them and their beloved cat. You can see that unconditional love between humans and animals – and the way he is part of their family and their souls. I think it also brings a really important sense of humanity to the refugee crisis – by allowing us privileged and incredibly lucky people to be able to relate to the suffering and joy (even in a tiny way) of others! It reminds us that we are all one, with the same loves and feelings – so in a way, Kunkush unites us all!

It has all the ingredients for a film – it is basically homeward bound (prepare to sob again):

That love! Love really is all around – in animals and nature, in the air we breath – it is the most powerful thing we have. Veganism is all about love really too and that spiritual bond we have with all animals. Whether you’re vegan or not – to love an animal really does open up a part of your being that is like nothing else and it is truly a wondrous and beautiful thing!

Lots of love,

Sunny Kitty
